The ideas behind Core Knowledge, the ideas presented in this catalog and in the works of our founder, E. D. Hirsh, Jr., are coming to the fore as professional educators and the general public confront the shortcomings of No Child Left Behind. Many of the remedies proposed for the reauthorization of NCLB recognize the work of Dr. Hirsch and like-minded reformers. It is finally becoming clear to more and more people what those of us associated with Core Knowledge have long known — that a content-driven curriculum must be part of any true education reform. We are confident that more and more school districts will be seeking a robust and substantive curriculum, including the guidelines provided in the Core Knowledge Sequence.
